Brown, Boston, and Beliefs

Once we got to Providence it was vacation time! Admittedly it wasn’t as thoughtfully planned out as some of our other adventures have been (I didn’t do a very good job as lead adventurer) and this led to more than a little time wasted. Despite this, we were able to have a pretty great time.

We were in Providence because Molly – Martina’s sister – was graduating from Brown University and we were going to share in the festivities. We went to some nice luncheons, DSC_0296meet-n-greets, a couple of award ceremonies, and Ben Affleck was there too. Molly really accomplished a lot during her time at Brown and we are so proud of her. The best part was that the rest of the family came out for the graduation too and some family friends as well.

Martina and I had to of course hit up Boston (check out this song dedicated to Boston) and we had a nice time just walking around the city, even in the wet and windy weather. We had lunch at Legal Seafood and got their famous clam chowder. It was delicious, all the more so because it was right on the Boston Harbor. We didn’t get to do as much sightseeing as we would have liked, but it’s just a great city to experience.

However, the highlight of the trip – outside of celebrating Molly – was a small road trip that Martina, Anthony, Holly, and I took to Palmyra, NY so that we could visit DSC_0040some historic sites of the LDS Church. It was a long drive, but it was well worth the trouble. We went to the Sacred Grove, took pictures at the Palmyra Temple, and visited the shop where the Book of Mormon was first printed. Being a member of the LDS faith I was touched to see the miracles that came together and ultimately led to the founding of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and which has brought so many blessings to my life.

It was a great East Coast Adventure, and hopefully the beginning of an eventful summer!
